I'd like to attend a Spa but I'm pregnant. Am I still able to go?

Being pregnant doesn't mean having to put the kibosh on your Spa plans. You can still enjoy a multitude of relaxation at your favourite Spa, but there are a few restrictions when it comes to pregnancy.

Many Spa's will not give certain treatments to women in their first trimester while others recommend specialist treatments throughout the pregnancy. Certain aromatherapy oils are best avoided during the beginning of your pregnancy, namely cedarwood, camomile, clary sage, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, juniper, lavender, myrrh, peppermint and rosemary. During the early stages of your pregnancy perhaps enjoy facials, manicures, pedicures or even a neck and shoulder massage.

Rather avoid heated facilities such as jacuzzis and saunas as this is not recommended at any stage during your pregnancy - favour the laconium or enjoy the pool as a refreshing alternative.

Remember to ALWAYS inform your therapist that you are pregnant - they will tailor your treatment accordingly and might also have some recommendations that you haven't yet thought of!
