It’s normal to lose some hair as part of the hair loss and growth cycle. At any one time, 90% of our hair is growing and 10% in a resting phase. After three to four months, hair in the resting phase falls out and is replaced by new hair. Excessive hair loss can be caused by stress, illness, pregnancy, fungal infections and even some medicines. If you feel that your hair loss is greater than normal, consult a doctor to rule out any underlying conditions. Your doctor may change your diet, prescribe a different medicine (if that’s the cause), prescribe medication to correct hormonal imbalances or treat you for infection. To keep hair healthy, eat right, exercise, drink plenty of water and give your hair plenty of TLC – comb out knots, brush it gently and don’t overstyle. |
