Spa Q&A
Question -What are the best treatments to have leading up to my wedding day?

Answer - The time leading up to your wedding can be such a frenetic and stressful time that it’s only fitting that you head to the Spa for a little pampering before your big day. But what treatments should you have, and when should you have them?

Facials should be had a week to 10 days prior to your wedding day as they can bring out impurities in the skin resulting in acne or minor breakouts. Manicures and Pedicures should be enjoyed the day before your wedding as this will allow you to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed as well as have any repairs to the paint or acrylic/gel nails that might be necessary in an emergency. Massages should be enjoyed a day or two prior to your wedding for a very good reason. A massage eliminates toxins from your body and can dehydrate you slightly. You will then need to drink a fair bit of water to rehydrate yourself and run the risk of feeling and looking bloated if you have the massage just before the ceremony.

We’ve compiled a recommended timeline of treatments to consider having in the final week before your wedding.

1 Week Before: Eyebrow Wax, Facial and Hair and Makeup trial
1 Day Before: A relaxing message, Manicure and Pedicure
The Wedding Day: Your wedding Hair and Makeup and any last minute touch-ups to your nails that might be needed

Article: Pregnancy and Your Spa Experience

You’ve just found out that you’re pregnant... You’re carrying a new life inside of you and you’re glowing – well, you would be if only you could get over your morning sickness! In the coming nine months, you’re going to witness your body transform before your eyes and you’re also going to want all the pampering you can get. In fact, you’re going to need it! Being a newly expectant mom, you can become a little paranoid about what you can and can’t do during your pregnancy – if you can’t take anything stronger than Panado for a headache, what chance are you going to have in making it to the Spa? Rest assured, you are still able to enjoy some much needed pampering at your local Spa. There are, however, a few things that you need to keep in mind when you do attend.

When you make a booking for a Spa treatment, be sure to let the therapist know that you’re pregnant. In that way, your therapist can be adequately prepared for your session. Most Spas have a policy of not performing full body massages during the first trimester of pregnancy. The reason for this is twofold: firstly, a large amount of added pressure on your uterine area can be dangerous to the foetus, and secondly, Spas do not wish to be involved in any liability issues. The first trimester of a pregnancy carries the greatest risk of miscarriage and so the Spa would rather not take any risks whatsoever. That having been said, there are still ample options open to you when attending a Spa... Read More...
