Spa Q&A |
Question - How can I make my own organic lotion? |
Answer -
Things You’ll Need:
• 1/4 cup beeswax
• Double boiler
• 1/2 cup almond oil
• 1/2 cup coconut oil
• 1/4 cup rosewater
• 1 cup fresh rose petals
• 1 1/2 cups distilled water
• Small, airtight jar
Step1Heat 1/4 cup of beeswax slowly in a double boiler. All natural beeswax is available in block or pellet form, both which work great for making your almond hand cream. If you buy in block form, cut the block into smaller pieces for faster melting. Step2 Add 1/2 cup of almond oil to the melted beeswax. Almond oil is the ideal skin care oil, as it absorbs quickly into the skin without a greasy build up. Almond oil can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and soothes painful cracking and burns on the skin. Step3Stir in 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Coconut oil is a natural healing element in your almond hand cream, perfect for sore, tired hands or for those who suffer from arthritis. Step4 Mix in 1/4 cup of rosewater and stir until thoroughly mixed. You can buy rosewater, or make your own by simmering 1 cup of fresh rose petals in one and a half cups of distilled water for 10 minutes and then straining the flowers from the water. Step5 Pour the hand cream into a container while it is still hot, as it will become firm as it cools. The final product should yield about 1 1/2 cups of healing
